Tenerife's Jesus de Miguel in Stable Condition After Serious Collision
2 November 2026
Tenerife's forward, Jesus de Miguel, is currently in stable condition in intensive care after a severe injury during a Segunda Division match on Monday.
The 30-year-old sustained significant injuries to his head and chest in stoppage time while clashing with Andorra's goalkeeper, Jesus Owono, during a tense moment in the game.
Reports from Spanish media outlets, including Marca, revealed that De Miguel experienced a cardiac arrest while en route to the hospital and required resuscitation from paramedics.
Tenerife confirmed that De Miguel was admitted to the University Hospital of Nuestra Senora de Candelaria and remains stable, despite the grave nature of his injuries.
The match was tied at 2-2 when the incident unfolded seven minutes into added time. Owono had raced to the center circle to intercept a long ball, but his knee struck De Miguel, leaving the striker motionless on the pitch.
Medical staff rushed to his aid as players from both teams looked on in shock, with many of De Miguel's teammates visibly shaken and in tears.
Following the incident, the referee issued Owono a straight red card and subsequently abandoned the match.
Andorra released a heartfelt statement expressing their support: "We want to send all our strength and best wishes to Jesus de Miguel after the serious incident suffered during today's match. We hope he recovers soon. A very strong hug to the player, his family and Tenerife."
